What Information We Collect
Paddock Lane collects the following categories of data:
- Usage data: Standard web server logs including IP address, browser type, referring URL, pages visited, and time of visit. This data is retained for 30 days in server logs and used only for security monitoring and aggregate traffic analysis.
- Cookies: We set a single first-party cookie ("cookie_consent") to record whether you have accepted or rejected the cookie consent prompt. This cookie does not track behaviour across sites. No advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or retargeting pixels are placed on this site.
- Contact form submissions: If you submit the contact form on the About page, we collect your name, phone number, email address, and message text. This data is used solely to respond to your inquiry. It is not shared with third parties or used for marketing.
Legal Basis for Processing
Our processing of usage data is based on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site (PIPEDA Schedule 1, Principle 2). Contact form data is processed based on your consent, given when you submit the form. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us at contact@paddocklane.org, at which point we will delete your submission data promptly.
Third-Party Services
Paddock Lane loads a stylesheet from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com) to render the Inter typeface. This causes your browser to connect to Google's servers, which may log your IP address under Google's own privacy policy. If this concerns you, you can block fonts.googleapis.com at the browser or network level without affecting site readability — the site will fall through to system fonts (Segoe UI on Windows, system-ui on macOS).
Images on this site are served directly from Wikimedia Commons (upload.wikimedia.org) under Creative Commons licences. Loading these images connects your browser to Wikimedia servers.
No other third-party scripts, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or social media tracking pixels are loaded on this site.
Data Retention
Server logs are purged after 30 days. Contact form submissions are retained for a maximum of 12 months, after which they are deleted unless ongoing correspondence requires longer retention. Cookie preference data is stored only in your browser's localStorage and is never transmitted to our servers.
Your Rights Under PIPEDA
As a Canadian resident, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate data, and withdraw consent for processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at contact@paddocklane.org. We will respond within 30 days. If you believe your privacy rights have been violated, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has submitted information through our contact form, we will delete it promptly.
